Welcome to Chestnuts Class Webpage! 

We are a mixed age Year 1 and 2 class. Our teacher is Ms Pape.   Our teaching assistant is Mrs Burton. 

This term our PE days are Mondays and Wednesdays.  However, this half term is our turn for Forest School and this will be on a Thursday afternoon, so please ensure that your child comes appropriately dressed on that day as they will probably get a bit messy!

So there is no PE on Wednesday until after half term, but we will have our PE slot always on a Monday, so kits will need to be in school on this day.

Please ensure that your child always has a water bottle in school and that all clothes are named too.

On Friday I will give your child a home learning sheet.  This should not take too long to complete and if you only want to do part of it that is fine, but I would encourage your child to have a go as it can really compliment their learning and is something that you can do together.  Please could this be returned by the following Thursday at the latest so that I can have a look.

Year 2's will be starting the Oxford Owl spelling scheme and spellings will be sent home to practice once this is up and running; the week commencing the 15th September.

As always, hearing your child read is really important and if this could be recorded in their reading record every time that would be great.  It doesn't always have to be their reading book from school.  It could be a comic or a book from home that they are enjoying.

The children will be taught by Mrs Corbett on Thursday afternoons.
