Vision & Values
Our vision and values underpin everything we do and informs every decision we make.
Our Vision:
'Love one another, as I have loved you’ (John 13:34)
At St Nicholas we seek to provide an all-inclusive environment where all children achieve their potential by ‘exploring possibilities together’ (our motto) and developing our personal values of respect, curiosity, community and friendship. By ensuring that our teaching and learning curriculum opportunities reflect the needs and interests of all pupils we can ensure that provision is appropriate and will inspire all our pupils.
Theological underpinning
‘Love one another, as I have loved you’ (John 13v34)
Our biblical underpinning is taken from the book of John. In this verse Jesus has taken a towel and washed his disciples’ feet. He is showing his unconditional love for them. He then tells his disciples they should wash each other’s feet to show that they ‘love one another, the way he has loved them’, with the key message that no one is more important than their master.
Our Values
The Bible tells us that we are created from ‘love’ by God, he created the world and all its diversity with love. Our values of respect, curiosity, friendship and community go hand in hand:
‘We explore together our love for one another, through learning about ourselves and the world, caring for the environment and building our community partnerships’.

The children believe that their school should be based on the values of friendship, respect, curiosity and community and from these values their vision is that children should foster:
- respect and care for the environment
- a love of learning about ourselves and the world (especially languages, faith and diversity)
- the strengthening of partnerships and friendships in our school community
