Forest School

Claire Harding, our fully trained Forest Skills Teacher, runs our forest school sessions which take place on Tuesday afternoons from 1.30 pm - 3.00 pm.   Claire is supported by the teaching staff of the class that are timetabled in.  She also runs our Forest Skills After School Club which is on a Tuesday afternoon after school.    During these sessions, the children are involved in a variety of activities such as den building, natural arts and crafts, developing their ideas for the school site, simple tool work (with close supervision), building bug hotels, whittling, collecting fuel for and then building small campfires, preparing and eating small campfire snacks.

Letters are sent out to parents in advance notifying them when their child's class will be taking part in Forest School.  The children will need to come to school on Tuesdays dressed in old clothes to include:  warm trousers and jumpers, waterproof outer layers, gloves, woolly hats and wellington boots.  We aim to run the sessions every week regardless of poor weather.
