As a RWI Reading School, the children were challenged to dress up as something linked to the phrases used when learning sounds or they could dress up as their favourite book character.

During the day, the children took part in a variety of book-related activities. One activity involved sharing a book with a pupil from another class, giving them the opportunity to celebrate a love of books and enjoy shared reading together. Each child was also invited to bring in one of their favourite books from home.

In addition, as it is the National Year of Reading, the theme for this year’s World Book Day is “Go All In”, a campaign encouraging more people to read. To support this, we will be taking part in a sponsored read in partnership with Usborne between 13 February and 2 March. This will not only encourage lots of great reading but will also help us raise funds to purchase some wonderful new books for the school.
