Vision and Ethos
The Governing Body has agreed this Ethos policy for the School.
‘At St Nicholas we nurture everyone to be the best we can be, in a caring and inclusive Christian environment.’
UNCRC Article 29: All children have the right to learning that allows you to become the best that you can be.’
We recognise the historic foundation of our school and work in partnership with the Church to provide high quality education within the context of Christian beliefs and practice. We encourage an understanding of the meaning and significance of the teachings of Christ, alongside promoting tolerance and respect for other cultures and faiths, and those expressing no faith. The Christian values of Love, Hope and Trust are at the centre of all the experiences we provide and permeate all we do.
OUR CORE AIM: TO DEVELOP HAPPY, WELL ROUNDED, CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS WHO ACHIEVE THEIR POTENTIAL AS A RESULT OF A WEALTH OF EXPERIENCES!
We achieve this by:
- Working in partnership with parents , the church and wider community
- Building children’s self- confidence and self – belief by encouraging a ‘can-do ‘attitude, celebrating successes and developing positive attitudes and key learning attributes.
- Promoting respect, tolerance and understanding for one another.
- Delivering a relevant and inspirational curriculum that develops key skills and promotes choice and creative thinking.
As part of our emphasis on all inclusive values , we promote British values , in accordance with government guidelines. For further information click here.
Our Curriculum Drivers 2018-2019
Spiritual and Moral
Equipping children with the skills to deal with the political, economic, environmental and technological challenges that face our children should be at the top of our agenda as educators. It will not be enough to deliver what is ‘safe’ if we are to meet the needs of children who face a rapidly changing world that poses some big questions. We have a responsibility to ensure they have the ability and confidence to explore some of the answers. Click here to read more about our curriculum development.
In short we want children to leave our school with a strong sense of their own values and beliefs, a desire to gain a deeper understanding of the world and with an aptitude to lead happy, successful lives.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you would like to pay us a visit. We are warm, friendly and inclusive and would love to meet you!
