Welcome to Our Reception Class 🌈

Welcome to our Reception class blog! We are so excited to share a little glimpse into the wonderful learning, play, and discoveries that take place in our classroom each day.

Reception is a very special year. It’s a time when children grow in confidence, independence, and curiosity as they settle into school life. Through play-based learning, we help children develop key skills while nurturing their natural love of learning.

Learning Through Play 🎨🧩

In our classroom, play is at the heart of everything we do. Children learn best when they are actively engaged, exploring, and having fun. Whether we are building towers in the construction area, creating masterpieces in the creative corner, or acting out stories in role play, every activity is carefully planned to support learning and development.

Phonics, Reading and Writing 📚✏️

We have been working hard on our phonics, learning new sounds and practising blending them to read simple words. The children love sharing stories together and choosing books to enjoy during quiet reading time. You may start to notice your child recognising letters, attempting to write their name, or talking about stories at home – these are wonderful steps in their learning journey!

Maths in Everyday Moments 🔢

Maths is everywhere in Reception! We practise counting, recognising numbers, and exploring shapes through games, songs, and practical activities. From counting how many children are in class to measuring ingredients during cooking activities, maths is brought to life in meaningful ways.

Growing Independence and Confidence 🌱

One of our biggest goals in Reception is helping children become confident and independent. We encourage them to try new things, solve problems, and take pride in their achievements. It has been lovely to see the children forming friendships, taking turns, and supporting one another.

Working Together 🤝

Thank you for your continued support at home. Reading together, talking about the school day, and encouraging independence all make a huge difference. We truly value our partnership with families and look forward to sharing many more special moments with you.

Keep an eye on our blog for updates, photos, and celebrations of the children’s learning. We are so proud of how hard they are working and can’t wait to see what they achieve next!
